Introduction to correlation
Correlation coefficients are one of the measures of descriptive statistics that represent the degree of correlation (dependence) between 2 or more features (variables). The choice of a particular coefficient depends mainly on the scale on which the measurements were made. Determining it is one of the first steps in correlation analysis. The statistical significance of the obtained coefficients can then be analysed using statistical tests.
Note! A dependence between variables does not always reflect a cause-and-effect relationship.
